Shatter Lyrics (Into The Black version)
I never thought it would end this way
And who’d believe we would see the day
Finding out what it’s like to be
That’s the price of living free
I didn’t think it would hurt so bad
And I hate to think that I’d made you sad
But some things are meant to be
And I had to go…
That I’d end up as a memory
(And) One you’d rather forget
I would think of you every day
And the love that we had…
And My World Would Shatter
Some things don’t make much sense
What you see isn’t what you get
Still, I smile, believe in you
Turn and walk away
My World Shatters
I am who I am
We are what we feel
If God gave you everything
Then she took it away…
Just swept it away…
Then your world would shatter
It would shatter
Shatter…
Who’d have thought it would end this way
Who’d believe the price we pay
Give your life to be living free
Give my life to be

Dark Universe’s Shatter Live: Deepest Black Friday, October 13th, The Civic Hotel.
Shatter is a new song from the upcoming Into The Black album. It is a poignant tale that has a universal (pun intended) theme. Whilst I have my own personal take on Shatter the crux of the song is about the price we pay for freedom.
Escape to freedom may come in many forms; abusive relationships, political struggle, racial, religious and gender/sexual oppression, and humans being horrid to other humans, which has been going on for aeons.
Shatter refers to the situation in which you are only accepted should you conform to someone else’s views or control. You escape, but the cost is a heavy one. I am certain everyone that reads this has had an experience that they can relate to with Shatter.
Anyway, when all is said and done be true to yourself, and break any chains that hold you down. You are worth it.

Original Shatter Lyrics
(Since Edited but here is the raw version)
I never thought it would end this way
And who’d believe we would see the day
Finding out what it’s like to be me
That’s the price of living free
I didn’t think it would hurt so bad
And I hate to think that I’d made you sad
But some things are meant to be
And I had to go…
That I’d end up as a memory
(And) One you’d rather forget
I would think of you every day
And the love that we had…
And My World Would Shatter
Some things don’t make much sense
What you want is not always what you get
And when you try to take it back
They don’t want to know
And Your World Would Shatter
You would shatter
I am who I am
You are what you feel
If God gave you everything
Then took it away…
Just Swept it away…
Then Your World Would Shatter
It would shatter
Shatter…
Who’d have thought it would end this way
Who’d believe the price we pay
Give your life to be living free
Give your life to be me
