Dark Universe – Shatter – Live Video & Story

Dark Universe’s Shatter Live: Deepest Black Friday, October 13th, The Civic Hotel.

Shatter is a new song from the upcoming Into The Black album. It is a poignant tale that has a universal (pun intended) theme. Whilst I have my own personal take on Shatter the crux of the song is about the price we pay for freedom.

Escape to freedom may come in many forms; abusive relationships, political struggle, racial, religious and gender/sexual oppression, and humans being horrid to other humans, which has been going on for aeons.

Shatter refers to the situation in which you are only accepted should you conform to someone else’s views or control. You escape, but the cost is a heavy one. I am certain everyone that reads this has had an experience that they can relate to with Shatter.

Anyway, when all is said and done be true to yourself, and break any chains that hold you down. You are worth it.

Original Shatter Lyrics
(Since Edited but here is the raw version)

I never thought it would end this way
And who’d believe we would see the day
Finding out what it’s like to be me
That’s the price of living free

I didn’t think it would hurt so bad
And I hate to think that I’d made you sad
But some things are meant to be
And I had to go…

That I’d end up as a memory
(And) One you’d rather forget
I would think of you every day
And the love that we had…

And My World Would Shatter

Some things don’t make much sense
What you want is not always what you get
And when you try to take it back
They don’t want to know

And Your World Would Shatter

You would shatter

I am who I am
You are what you feel
If God gave you everything
Then took it away…
Just Swept it away…
Then Your World Would Shatter

It would shatter
Shatter…

Who’d have thought it would end this way
Who’d believe the price we pay
Give your life to be living free
Give your life to be me

7th Heaven

Now that the dust has settled after the Gate One show it is time to get real and think about what comes next. My personal endgame is to get Dark Universe to the concert stages of Germany and beyond, taking our music far beyond these shores. I will make that happen I promise myself! It is time to complete Into The Black, and take off into the blue!

And…

Thanks to Pete Gardner for capturing a moment in time that I would bottle if it was catchable. This post is to basically thank Pete for that and credit the photo, one that I will treasure forever, along with my bass partner in crime Craig Skelton.

This fleeting moment of joy sums up exactly where I am in my life with my music and also myself. That it took me so long to bloom is crazy enough, but at least I managed to get there in the end.

Anyway…

Dark Universe – Listen For Free

I would love for you to listen to Dark Universe, and you can do that on Reverbnation. I am very proud of our work and want to share it with you.

It would be wonderful if you do like it that you would share it on your fave social media pages.

Perth, Western Australia is a long way from many of you, and we have limited financial power, so any help getting the word out about my album would be HUGELY appreciated!

Note the bonus track: Get Up Get Down not available on iTunes.

Dark Universe

Inner Universe

I am just about to embark on the final stage of what was my solo album and now also a True Spirit one. ‘Dark Universe’ is an extended EP that is a musical journey through some intensely personal dark places. Dedicated to all that have to fight for their self-worth, those that do not fit the roles that society expects of them, and by effect, anyone that has ever been left alone, friendless, loveless, lost or broken.

A lifetime in the making, I am very proud of this body of work. It means the world to me, and it would never have happened without the love and belief of some incredible family and friends; the beautiful Kerry Page, Donna Greene, Craig Skelton, Michael Burn, Troy Brazier, Andrew Thompson, Stuart James, Anthony Steele and musical inspirations by Gabriella Page.
